Culminating Blog Reflection

Throughout this project I experienced so many things that helped me out not just as a student but as person as well. I used critical thinking when it came to my research paper and when my mentor asked me question. Most of the time when one of his appointment ends he asked me questions about the appointment. He point out specific things about the appointment thats why I always pay attention on his appointments. When I worked with my mentor, the collaboration that we had was something different. We always connect with the things we do. He helps me out what I should talk about in my blogs and in life. How I can help out people in the future.

I gained so much because of this project. I learned so many things from my mentor and things we did. I became more patience to people. I don't get annoyed so easily by people. I became more social with new people I meet because he would make me talk to the people he introduce me. I became more open and got more comfortable with people. I became a smarter person not justin books but in general as well. I think about the consequences before I do things.

Theres some challenges that I had to overcome when it came to this project. First, getting to my mentor is one of my challenges that I had to overcome. I dont drive yet and if I take the bus it would take me forever just to get to my mentor. I had to ask my parents to drop me off at Skyline College so I can do my hours. Another challenge was finding my mentor. I was scared that I wouldnt find my mentor and lose all the points of that part of the project, which is ten percent of it. Last thing I had to overcome was my shyness. I'm a very shy person in the beginning. I had to get comfortable real fast because I meet new people everyday. As a counselor you have to comfortable on who youre having a meeting with. I learned that to my mentor because he meets new people everyday and different ages as well.

Doing this project made me want to pursue counseling in the future. it gave me a different perspective about counseling. I love my mentors jobs and it makes me want to be a counselor. He's not just a counselor but he is also a teacher, artist, hip-hop expert and a wonderful person to his kids. I want to be just like him if I ever come a counselor. This been a great experience for me. I learned so much in this couple of months I been doing this project.
